Buying and building on your block

To learn about purchasing land through Suburban Land Agency, check out our Buyer’s Guide.

All development will be built in accordance with the Territory Plan, the same as all other development in the ACT. Whitlam has some specific building requirements on particular blocks which are listed in the Housing Development Guide, along with topography maps. These are mostly in relation to fencing, cut and fill and noise. There are no particular requirements on the exterior colours or materials on your home.

As far as timing your build, the Memorandum of Provisions (as part of your sales contract) states that you will be required to complete your construction within twenty four (24) months from the commencement date of the crown lease (i.e from the date you settle on your land).

If you require any further information on this please contact the ACT Planning and Land Authority.
