Why work with us?

SLA  invests approximately $200 million* annually with consultants, contractors and suppliers, reflecting our strong commitment to working with industry to deliver high-quality outcomes for Canberra. We’re not just for profit, we’re creating places that people will live in, grow in, and feel proud of. Our financial returns support vital public services and infrastructure, through reinvested into healthcare, education, community initiatives, and the roads and facilities that connect us all.

Pipeline of opportunity

We have a robust pipeline of projects across Canberra’s suburbs, from greenfield developments to urban renewal. That means consistent work, long-term relationships, and the chance to leave a legacy.

Purpose-driven projects

We do not just tick boxes. Our developments are guided by strong social, environmental, and economic outcomes. Whether it’s affordable housing, green infrastructure, or people-first design, we’re committed to doing things differently for better community outcomes .

Collaborative culture

We treat our consultants as trusted collaborators, not just service providers. You’ll be working alongside our team who bring their own wealth of industry experience.

Innovation friendly

At SLA we are open to new ideas, whether it’s innovative digital tools, sustainable materials, or smarter engagement. If you’ve got a better way to do things, we want to hear it.

Our team welcomes opportunities to work with people who share our values and are committed to shaping great places for Canberra’s future. From greenfields, civil infrastructure to urban planning and subdivision design we engage a wide range of consultants, contractors, and suppliers across the development lifecycle.

How to get involved

Here’s your checklist to tendering for SLA projects.

Many of our projects are procured under Whole-of-Government arrangements, with lead buyers designated across ACT Government directorates. Suppliers interested in working with SLA are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these arrangements via Procurement ACT.

  • Prequalification with the ACT Government is required for principal contractors and town planning consultants, including financial and systems checks managed by Infrastructure Canberra. Prequalification includes submission of three years of audited financial statements and evidence of work management systems.

  • Secure Local Jobs Code certification is mandatory for suppliers in construction, transport, cleaning, and security to ensure ethical labour standards. Learn more.

  • SLA civil contracts use the ACT-adapted GC21 suite, supporting collaborative delivery and compliance with WHS legislation.

  • Planning and design consultants must understand the Planning Act 2023, Territory Plan, and District Strategies, which guide land use and development in the ACT.

  • Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander business? SLA supports First Nations businesses through the ACT Government’s partnership with Supply Nation, promoting diverse and inclusive procurement. Find out more about how to register your business
